The entire operation (ERP, files, printing) ran on a single physical server (bare metal). Any hardware failure meant a complete shutdown, with no backup machine available.

The server was virtualized into a VM (Virtual Machine). The VM can be moved or restored on a different physical machine without a full reinstall from scratch.
